About us

A small studio, eleven designers, and a stubborn objection to how brand identity gets priced.

BrandShelf is a small studio in Copenhagen and a rotating bench of eleven designers who normally charge agency rates.

Everything on the shelf started as a real client direction that never shipped — refined, documented and made editable so it can go to work for someone else. That is why the kits do not look like templates: they were not drawn as templates.

Why we cap sales

An unlimited licence is good for us and bad for you. A mark that has sold ten thousand times is not an identity, it is a stock asset. So every kit retires at a fixed number of sales and leaves the shelf for good. Once a kit passes halfway through its run, the remaining count is shown on its product page.

Why designers stay

Contributors take the larger share of every sale, for as long as the kit sells — not a one-off fee for handing over their work. It is the reason good designers keep sending us things.

How we got here

Four years, one stubborn idea.

2021

A drawer full of unused work

Two directions a client rejected turned into the first two kits. They sold out in a week, which was either a signal or a fluke.

2022

The shelf becomes a shop

We opened to other designers and set the split in their favour. Eleven of them are still with us.

2023

Retirement, not unlimited licences

We capped how many times a kit can sell. Revenue dipped for a quarter and never dipped again.

2025

Four thousand brands in

Bakeries, studios, one veterinary clinic and a surprising number of ceramicists.

Your brand is already on the shelf.

Pick it up, put your name on it, and get back to the part of the business you actually wanted to do.
